Yurt
What Is a Yurt?
A yurt was originally a nomadic dwelling, and even today more than half of Mongolians live in yurts, including in cities.
A yurt is easy to dismantle, set up, and transport. Nomads move their homes according to where their herds graze. A yurt is much sturdier than a tent and can be compared more to an additional building than to a tent.
It stays warm during the cold winter months, while in summer its breathable structure keeps the indoor air pleasantly cool. A yurt is surprisingly spacious inside – from the outside it may look small, but once you step in, its size is impressive, offering over 30 m² of living space.
A yurt is a versatile additional building
A yurt can serve as a year-round guest house in your yard or even as your own summer cottage. It can also be used as a hunting cabin, camping shelter, or even a tent sauna.
Inside the yurt, you’ll find a unique atmosphere. Its round shape creates a cozy and warm feeling. You can sense being surrounded by nature and hear the sounds of the outdoors, while still being safe and comfortable in a solid, weather-resistant structure. A yurt offers restful nights of sleep and is also an excellent place to unwind – whether for yoga, meditation, or an afternoon nap.
The yurts are handmade in Mongolia
We have a contact person in Mongolia who has lived in a yurt all their life. With their help, we ensure that each yurt is built correctly and that all its parts meet our quality standards. Since Mongolia has cold winters, hot summers, and strong winds, we can be confident that the yurts will also withstand our seasonal changes. With a few technical adjustments we add in Finland, we make sure the yurt works well even in Finland’s humid conditions.
